Favorite Quote from today: "Christ could have healed Simon's mother-in-law from the front porch. He didn't. He came to her and drew down close."
The focus of this devotion seemed to be about sensing Christ's activity in our homes... in our daily routines and life. In most days, most weeks, I sense the Lord's presence with me personally, but I long for this to be more overt in my marriage and parenting.

I love this!! I love that he came in! I love that He drew near.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned last night that I have been particularly curious about this concept this past week, as I have had my teenage niece staying with me. She does not have a great home life. Her parents are separated, and neither is living out a walk with the Lord right now, although both have done so in the past. There is a lot of fighting and strife.
Last night I went in her room to check on her while we were meeting, in between prayers for people. I was sure she would have her headphones on, blocking us out. Instead, I found her with her door OPEN, her headset OFF and realized that she was able to hear what was going on. That just melted my heart. I want her to see a different way of life! I want her to see Jesus living out daily life with women...I wanted her to see us do friendship and life together, and I think she did. Ladies, THANK YOU. I think that this thing we get to experience of Jesus being near is in and of itself a tremendous gift. But getting to do it together? That's some dynamite. And I think i can say that some prayers of our hearts were very tangibly answered during our time together last night. Ok, prayers of this aunt's heart. :)
That's awesome, D2! Let every good seed take root in that girl.
ReplyDeleteI just love that Simon's MIL got up and served them. No big deal, could've been dead, was healed, but wasn't raving over what happened. She just went right back to what she needed to do. Wouldn't it be great if tasting of the Kingdom was so normal it didn't really cause a fuss? If it was expected?
